Bethany Green Stuard is thrilled to serve as the director of the Sloan Creek Intermediate School Choir! Mrs. Stuard began the choral program at Lovejoy High School in 2006. During Mrs. Stuard’s nine years of teaching at LHS, her choirs received exclusively Sweepstakes Trophies at UIL Concert and Sightreading Competition and were named Outstanding High School Choir at the Lonestar Music Festival in 2008 and 2012, the Space City Music Festival in 2010, Red River Sing-Off in 2010 and 2012, and Festival Disney in 2013. The singers of Lovejoy High School attained success on many levels, becoming Texas All-State Choir members and UIL State Solo and Ensemble Outstanding Medalists. In 2013, the Lovejoy Varsity Women performed at the Texas Music Educators’ Convention in San Antonio, a huge honor and a fantastic experience. Mrs. Stuard has conducted Lovejoy singers in venues such as St. John’s the Divine in New York City, Old North Church in Boston, and the Vatican in Italy.
Mrs. Stuard graduated in 2006 with a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Mrs. Stuard also studied at Texas Tech University, graduating with bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance, Suma Cum Laude in Honors studies.
Mrs. Stuard remains active in the choral community as a choral and vocal judge and clinician, and she frequently performs with Orpheus Chamber Singers, the premiere chamber choir of the Dallas area. She is currently the assistant director for the Women’s Youth Chorus of Dallas. Mrs. Stuard is a member of TMEA, ACDA, TCDA, and TMAA. She has presented sessions at TCDA and TMEA Conventions.
Mrs. Stuard lives in Allen with her husband James and her daughter Vivian Grace. James is a wonderful supporter of the Lovejoy Choirs and loves his part-time job as a “professional audience member.”
